History

First founded as the Fort Myers Bar Association in 1927, the Lee County Bar Association was officially established in 1949 as a voluntary organization of attorneys living and working in Lee County, Florida. In the early 60s, the LCBA experience a period of rapid growth, with the group of a couple dozen attorneys doubling to about 50. Since its founding, the membership has grown to nearly 1,000, and includes attorneys in adjacent counties whose clients have business and court issues in Lee County.

Along with its expansion in size, the non-profit has worked tirelessly to anticipate its members’ changing needs in terms of technology, continuing education, practice area specialization, networking and social opportunities. Additionally, the organization facilitates pro bono opportunities and member-driven community service projects.
