Disaster Unemployment Asistance for Hurricane Irma

The National Employment Law Project (NELP) has prepared a Hurricane Irma fact
sheet <http://www.nelp.org/publication/how-workers-access-dua-after-hurricane-irma/> with basic information
about Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA). To qualify for DUA, the applicant must be out of work as a
direct result of Irma and not qualify for regular Reemployment Assistance.

We will also be providing additional FL-specific guidance on DUA in a brochure for clients. But, in the mean time,
DEO’s application for DUA is at http://www.floridajobs.org/office-directory/division-of-workforceservices/
reemployment-assistance-programs/disaster-unemployment-assistance. Note also that, pursuant to Rule
73B-11.013, in a declared disaster, a Reemployment Assistance Claim may be filed by calling the
Department of Economic Opportunity toll-free at (800)204-2418 or by mailing in a hard
copy.
