Four law students gain “on-the-job training” this summer at Henderson Franklin

Henderson, Franklin, Starnes & Holt, P.A., is pleased to welcome four law students, Madison Allen, Andres EstrellaKristen Schalter and Kaylee Tuck. They will supplement their law school experience by working as clerks at the firm during the summer.

As part of Henderson Franklin’s Summer Associate Program, they will be exposed to a broad range of practice areas and will attend hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, arbitrations and meetings with clients. They will also perform research, assist in the drafting of pleadings, discovery and analyze various legal issues. Each summer associate is paired with a Henderson Franklin attorney mentor who assists the summer associate with the transition from law student to lawyer.

·         Allen is a Southwest Florida native and grew up in LaBelle. She was dual enrolled at Florida SouthWestern and earned her associate’s degree before graduating LaBelle High School in 2012. Allen then attended Florida Gulf Coast University where she earned her undergraduate degree in 2015 and will soon enter her final year at Stetson University College of Law. While at Stetson, Allen has served as the Pro Bono Chair, a Student Bar Association Representative, and a member of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers. She also received the Lee County Association for Women Lawyer’s Scholarship at its Judicial Reception held last month.

·         Estrella is a Miami native who will be entering his final year at the University of Miami School of Law. He obtained his B.S. and Masters in Accounting from Villanova University. Estrella worked in public accounting for three years prior to law school and holds an active CPA license (FL). In law school, Estrella was one of a select few who traveled to Belgium to participate in an International Tax Moot Court Competition this past Spring. He is passionate about physical fitness and in the summer of 2015 cycled across the United States from Miami to Seattle riding 4000 miles in just 56 days.

·         Schalter is from Adrian, Michigan, and attended Grand Valley State University for her undergraduate degree. Upon relocating to Florida, she taught middle school in Kissimmee and Tampa. Schalter will be entering her final year at the Florida State University College of Law where she is the Administrative Editor of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law and serves on the executive boards of the business and intellectual property law societies. She enjoys watching baseball games and FSU football in her spare time.

·         Tuck grew up in Sebring, Florida, and will be entering her final year at Stetson University College of Law. While in law school, she is active in the local community volunteering at Gulfcoast Legal Services and recently completed an internship with the St. Petersburg’s Police Department. Tuck obtained her undergraduate degree from Florida State University. Off the clock, she enjoys the Florida beaches, mud runs and triathlons.

Fort Myers attorney Luise E. Rivera earns board certification as consumer bankruptcy specialist

Rivera successfully met all the requirements and earned national certification as a Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist from the American Board of Certification. In 2016, Rivera earned certification as a Business Bankruptcy Specialist and now is one of only eleven attorneys in Florida who hold these dual certifications by the American Board of Certification.

Rivera has broad experience in business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and insolvency counseling. In addition to his law practice, he serves as a U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee for the Middle District of Florida. As a trustee, Rivera is routinely involved in the liquidation of business enterprises, including the recovery and sale of assets; the investigation, development, and prosecution of litigation to recover funds for creditors; and the reconciliation and payment of claims held by creditors.

Seven Roetzel Attorneys Named Among 2017 Florida Super Lawyers and Rising Stars

Pavese Law Firm Partners Named 2017 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars

Pavese Law Firm is proud to announce partners William Haverfield, Diane Jensen, Neale Montgomery and Christopher Shields have been named to the esteemed 2017 Super Lawyers list of top attorneys in Florida. This honor is bestowed upon no more than five percent of attorneys statewide. In addition, Brooke Martinez and Charles Capps have been named to the Rising Stars list as top up-and-coming attorneys. This is the fifth appearance on the Rising Stars list for Martinez, and the second for Capps, respectively. Each year, only 2.5 percent of lawyers in Florida receive this prestigious acknowledgment.
Haverfield joined the firm in 1969 and served as managing partner from 1990 until 2011. He has been board certified in Marital and Family Law since 1985 and focuses his practice in the area of family law, particularly on original dissolution of marriage proceedings. He has substantial experience in complex marital litigation, including business valuations and real estate appraisal issues related to dissolution of marriage. Haverfield has tried a wide variety of civil cases and was certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar from 1983 to 1999.

 

Jensen joined Pavese Law Firm in 1973 and became a partner in the firm in 1978. Her practice areas include bankruptcy, real estate and estate planning and probate. She is a member and past chair of the Southwest Florida Bankruptcy Professionals Association. She is one of three trustees in the Fort Myers division of the Middle District to be appointed by the Federal Bankruptcy Court.

 

Montgomery joined the firm in 1986 and became a partner in the firm in 1991. Her practice areas are land use, zoning, local government, environmental, water, and real estate law. Montgomery is involved with real estate development and permitting issues at the local, regional, state and federal level.  Montgomery serves on the SFWMD Water Resource Advisory Commission, Tiger Bay Board, and the Lee County Building Industry Association Government Affairs Committee.

Shields joined Pavese Law Firm in 1984 and became a partner in the firm in 1990. LITIGATION ATTORNEY SCOTT BEATTY ELECTED TO HENDERSON FRANKLIN’S EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

Beatty, who joined Henderson Franklin in June 2003, focuses his litigation practice in business disputes, construction and lien law litigation, contract disputes, collections and foreclosures. He also has an active real estate litigation practice, handling boundary and border disputes, as well as title insurance claims.
